I was spontaneous today! Yaeh for me!
Eveybody who knows me well knows how trying to do anything a little out of the ordinary with me is such a pain in the b… cause I just can’t handle it. I’m absolutely not spontaneous. Actually this statement isn’t quite true, I did manage to be spontanous at times before the kids were born but now with two very little people in the house (E’s only 6 months old and her big sister only 26 months) I’ve lost anything even remotely resembling spontaneity.
It was a very hot day today, by Mountain standards: tropical. It was 28C. Our neighbour had been across earlier and suggested I take the kids to the pool. But no that’s not possible: “I haven’t planned for that!”, “I’m not prepared.” I just put it in the too-hard basket.
I stopped thinking about it but when both kids got up from their nap I was feeling incredibly hot and they too looked like they could really do with a trip to the pool. So in a matter of 5mins I got changed, packed swimmers, aqua nappies, floaties, a book (you see, I was feeling very good and relaxed about this adventure and I had high hopes), afternoon tea for the two, hats and suncreen and we were off.
Everything worked out so beautifully. We had dinner a little later as I had to whip that up once we came back from the pool, but I reallly didn’t worry.
The effort paid off. I think we had a fantastic day!!
Good for you! I am not the spontanious type either, I need serious notice to even meet up for coffee with friends and I don’t even have the excuse of children.
Hi Lydia,
what is your excuse then? Might have to keep that one up my sleeve for later, when the kids are too big to be used as an excuse
