Dear Family and Friends,
this page is for those of you that wonder what to get the girls for their birthdays or Christmas and need some hint. They’re mainly library books that we got out again and again and again or books that I’ve seen recommended and haven’t been able to get out at the library.
Board books are great or plain old paperback versions are just fine too now that the girls are a little older.
- “Belinda” by Pamela Allen (2-5 years)
- “Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see?” by Bill Martin Jr and Eric Carle (1-3 years)
- “Daisy and the Beastie” by Jane Simmons (3 and over)
- “Edward the Emu” by Sheena Knowles and Rod Clement (3 and over)
- “Hairy Maclary from Donaldson’s Dairy” by Lynley Dodd (2-5 years)
- “Handa’s Surprise” by Eileen Brown (2-5 years)
- “Hatch, Egg, Hatch!” by Shen Roddie and Frances Cony (under 2’s)
- “I can read that!” series by ABC Early Learning (books, CD and stickers for toddlers and preschoolers)
- “I went walking“ by Sue Machin and Julie Vivas (0-4 years)
- “My cat likes to hide in boxes” by Eve Sutton and Lynley Dodd (over 2)
- “Piglet and Mama” by Margaret Wild and Stephen Michael King (2-5 years)
- “Rosie’s Walk” by Pat Hutchins (great baby book)
- “Snap! Went Chester” by Tania Cox and David Miller (1-4 years)
- “The Baby Dances” by Kathy Henderson and Tony Kerins (this book always makes me cry, and both girls really love it)
- “The Elephant and the Bad Baby” by Elfrida Vipont and Raymond Briggs (2-5 years)
- “The Gruffalo” by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler (over 3 years)
- “The Tiger who came to Tea” by Judith Kerr (2-5 years)
- “Where is the Green Sheep?” by Mem Fox and Judy Horacek (0-5 years)
- “Where’s Spot?” by Eric Hill (0-3 years)
- “Where’s your Smile, Crocodile?” by Claire Freedman and Sean Julian (2-5 years)
- “Where the Wild Things Are” by Maurice Sendak (over 3 years)
As M loves (REALLY, REALLY loves) music (and E is following right in her big sisters footsteps) here are some CDs she’d/they’d die to have:
- 50 Counting and Alphabet Songs
- “Baa Baa Doo Baa Baa: The Memory Verses” by Colin Buchanan (M absolutely loves Colin!!)
- “King of Christmas” by Colin Buchanan (… as I said)
- “10, 9, 8, God is great” by Colin Buchanan (well it seems we just can’t get enough of him)
- “The King, the Snake and the Promise” by Emu Music
And there are some DVDs that are just really worthwhile too:
